Case 3, shelf A: Factory Engraved
  1. Serial number 101xxx (Mfg. 1936). One of only about 12 prewar Sport models that were factory engraved.
  2. Serial number 102xxx (Mfg. 1936). Target model, with engraving that is virtually identical to the Sport model above. 1 and 2 are a matched pair of publicity guns for Colt. They were sent to numerous trade shows and other displays in 1936.
  3. Serial number 5xxx (Mfg. 1917): Factory B engraved by W. H. Gough.
  4. Serial number 87xxx (Mfg. 1933): Factory C engraved.
  5. Serial number 27xxx-S (Mfg. 1948): second series Sport, engraved by Denise Thirion for the Colt Custom shop and then factory nickel plated.
  6. Serial number 123xxx-S (Mfg. 1953): second series Target, engraved by Denise Thirion for the Colt Custom shop and then factory nickel plated.
  7. Serial number 99xx-S (Mfg. 1951): second series Match Target, engraved by Denise Thirion for the Colt Custom shop and then factory nickel plated.
For privacy purposes, the final digits of the serial numbers have been replaced with the letter x.
